  When it comes to choosing a school we seldom seem confused. In the end we find best way is to ask people around us, friends and come to a solution. In today’s blog I am going to talk more the concept how to choose a school for your kid, before I go into various aspect Top schools or Best Schools of Delhi, Banglore, Hyderabad, Pune, India. While planning to write the blog, we decided to ask few parents’ about their criteria; how they differentiate between a good school, a better school or a best school. More and more we asked this question from people and we realized that some criteria to choose a good school is based on wrong notion. Generally we do commit few mistakes in choosing a school for our kids. We collect the data from the different school and then we never try to derive the information from the data in a proper manner. We give an unbalanced weightage to different parameters of a school in judging its quality. Let’s say there is a high probability in general parents’ would give more focus towards study than sports, which is not really right. For an overall development of a child there are various attributes which are important. Sports and athletics should be given equal importance along with studies before choosing as school. Over all it is not just the name which matters in selecting a school rather its program. Parameters to Choose a Good school So before you select a school for your loved ones you should consider these points; when you’re looking beyond the local public school after primary education, the parameters of selection will change slightly. In India there are in general two kind of lateral shift which done. Number of students joining after primary education has a very different reason; more and more focus should be given to child’s characteristics, needs, personality, strengths and interests. In the contrary if you are changing your school after X board, I am sure your focus would be more in studies. Still it has been seen that all studies and no play is not a reward getting concept. The focus of schools should be more balanced with education and extra curricular activities. Most important points that should be considered before choosing a school is that the culture of the school should be align with family value. Some factors you could take into account while selecting Top schools:
  • Facilities provided by the school such as playgrounds, library, music programs, clubs and sporting teams
  • Parent and family involvement with the school administration
  • School’s Teacher and number of children enrolled ratios and where your child’s friends are going.
  • school’s affiliation (e.g. CBSE, state Board or any other valid affiliation)
  • Location of the school, cost or difficulty of travelling to and from the school, and public transport options
  • Interaction between the school and the local community
  • Schools’ previous academic year results performance in other extracurricular
  • Schools initiative and  works towards society
Based on 14 criteria a survey was conducted on the following parameters on a10-point scale across 14 parameters – academic reputation, teacher welfare and development, co-curricular activities, competence of faculty (20 points),  sports activities, attention to students, life skills and conflict management education, infrastructure provision, leadership/ management quality, special needs education, internationalism etc Best schools in Different categories:
